The Position
Male and female he created them. Biological sex is given by God at conception.
The Study
## Core Position
God created humanity as male and female — two distinct, complementary sexes established at creation and rooted in biological reality. Gender is not a social construct or a spectrum of self-identification. The contemporary gender ideology that separates gender identity from biological sex has no biblical foundation and contradicts the creation design. Every person is made in the image of God and deserves dignity — but affirming a person's worth is not the same as affirming every position they hold.
Creation Design
Genesis 1:27 — "So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them." Two sexes — created by God, not constructed by culture. The binary is built into creation.
Matthew 19:4 — Jesus reaffirms Genesis directly: "Have you not read that he who created them from the beginning made them male and female?"
Psalm 139:13-14 — "You formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Biological formation is God's intentional, personal act.
Genesis 2:21-24 — Male and female are complementary — designed for one another, distinct in nature, united in covenant.
Distinction Is Maintained
Deuteronomy 22:5 — "A woman shall not wear a man's garment, nor shall a man put on a woman's cloak, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord your God." The distinction between male and female is upheld even in clothing.
1 Corinthians 11:14-15 — Paul appeals to nature regarding male/female distinction in appearance and practice.
The Pastoral Dimension
Every person experiencing gender confusion or dysphoria is made in the image of God and deserves to be treated with dignity, compassion, and honest truth. These are real experiences of real people — dismissal is not the answer.
The answer is identity rooted in being a son or daughter of God through the born-again experience; the renewing of the mind (Romans 12:2) applied to identity; pastoral care that holds both truth and compassion simultaneously; the transformative power of the new birth — not behavior modification, but nature transformation.
The born-again experience establishes identity in Christ as the foundation. When identity is anchored in Christ, the confusion that drives gender ideology loses its grip. This is not a culture war position — it is the gospel applied to identity.
What This Rejects
Gender as a social construct — Genesis 1:27 (male and female are created realities, not cultural assignments).
Gender identity separate from biological sex — Psalm 139:13-14, Matthew 19:4.
Gender spectrum ideology — no biblical text supports a spectrum; the consistent biblical pattern is binary and complementary.
Sex-reassignment as resolution — altering biological creation does not resolve the spiritual question of identity in Christ.
