The Antichrist

2 Thessalonians 2:3-12, Revelation 13

The Position

A future singular figure — the man of lawlessness — empowered by Satan. Destroyed at Christ's return.

The Study

## Core Position

The Antichrist is a literal future individual — a real human being empowered by Satan — who rises to global political and religious power, confirms a covenant with Israel, breaks it at the midpoint of the tribulation, sits in the rebuilt temple declaring himself God, and demands worship through the mark of the beast. He is not a system, not a symbol, and not a past historical figure whose fulfillment is complete.

Supporting Scripture

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4"The man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction, who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God." A specific individual. Personal actions. Future event.

Daniel 9:27 — He confirms a covenant with many for one week (seven years), then breaks it at the midpoint — stopping sacrifice and offering.

Revelation 13:1-8 — The beast rising from the sea — given global authority, 42 months, forced worship, overcomes the saints.

Revelation 13:18"His number is 666... it is the number of a man." A human individual.

1 John 2:18"You have heard that antichrist is coming." A future, specific coming figure — distinct from the spirit of antichrist already in the world.

Daniel 11:36-37"He shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god... he shall prosper till the indignation is accomplished."

2 Thessalonians 2:8"The Lord Jesus will kill him with the breath of his mouth and bring him to nothing by the appearance of his coming." Personal defeat at Christ's personal return.

Revelation 19:20 — The beast is captured and thrown alive into the lake of fire at Christ's return. A personal fate for a personal figure.

The Sequence

1. The Antichrist rises to global prominence.
2. He confirms a seven-year covenant with Israel (Daniel 9:27).
3. At the midpoint (3.5 years) he breaks the covenant, enters the rebuilt temple, and declares himself God (2 Thessalonians 2:4).
4. The great tribulation begins — 42 months of unprecedented judgment (Revelation 13:5).
5. He demands worship and implements the mark of the beast (Revelation 13:16-17).
6. He is defeated personally by Christ at his return (Revelation 19:20, 2 Thessalonians 2:8).
7. He is thrown alive into the lake of fire — the first occupant before Satan joins him (Revelation 19:20, 20:10).

AI and the Antichrist

Revelation 13:15"It was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain."

The image that speaks, monitors, and executes judgment on those who refuse worship describes a technological enforcement system consistent with what artificial superintelligence could produce. The Antichrist system will require a level of global surveillance and enforcement not possible in any previous era. That era has arrived.

What This Rejects

Antichrist as purely symbolic — 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (specific personal actions); Revelation 19:20 (personal fate).
Preterist view — already fulfilled by Nero or another past figure — 2 Thessalonians 2:8 (Christ kills him at his coming, which has not occurred).
Antichrist as a system or institution only — 1 John 2:18 (a future individual distinct from the spirit of antichrist already present).
